 VISITING

"I have returned to Amoraleza on a number of occasions.

For me it is like a piece of paradise here on earth, not only because of the beautiful nature, the tasty, healthy vegan raw-food or the powerful workshops that one can find there but because of the community, the beautiful people, and the inspiring personal connections which are forged in every visit.

I recommend visiting Amoraleza for anybody who is interested to witness how a different kind of life is possible and be transformed themselves." - Ido H.

THE LAND

Nestled at the western entrance of the Sierra Nevada National Park, Amoraleza is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, offering stunning views of the mountains and the Órgiva valley. Here, you can fully immerse yourself in nature—rest under the shade of ancient olive trees, cool off in our natural swimming pool on warm summer days. As night falls, the sky transforms into a magical canvas, inviting you to reconnect with the elements and marvel at the stars.

The nearby hiking trails provide an opportunity to explore the historic landscapes of the Alpujarras, where ruins and ancient acequias—centuries-old water channels—continue to nourish the mountainside farms.

At Amoraleza, we live off-grid, embracing a simple and sustainable lifestyle to help you reconnect with nature. Our water comes directly from the mountains, with pure drinking water sourced from the famous Lanjarón spring. We use solar power for electricity, encouraging a mindful use of resources.

You are welcome to self-cater in our communal kitchen or share a lovingly prepared homemade meal. During the day, the dome offers a cool and tranquil space, perfect for meditation, music, reading, or yoga.

Expect simplicity over luxury—facilities include outdoor compost toilets and hot showers. While internet access is available, we intentionally keep things simple, with no Wi-Fi on the grounds, inviting you to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the natural one.

THE REGION

Amoraleza is situated between the Sierra Nevada and the Costa Tropical, just 45 minutes from both the beach and the city of Granada. Nestled in the heart of the Alpujarras Mountains, between Órgiva and Lanjarón, the area is known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant alternative communities.

Órgiva, the main town of the western Alpujarras, is a melting pot of cultures, attracting a diverse mix of locals, travelers, and alternative settlers. The town blends traditional Andalusian charm with a bohemian, international spirit, making it a lively and welcoming place. Every Thursday morning, the Órgiva market is a great opportunity to soak in the local atmosphere, browse fresh produce and handmade crafts, and connect with people from all walks of life—Órgiva is home to over 60 different nationalities.

Despite its small size, Órgiva has a vibrant arts and music scene, with street performances, small festivals, and community events happening throughout the year. It is also surrounded by mountains, olive groves, and orange orchards, making it a perfect base for hiking, exploring rivers and waterfalls, or visiting the picturesque white-washed villages of the Alpujarras.

The region is a paradise for nature lovers, offering endless opportunities for horseback riding, swimming in nearby rivers and waterfalls, or visiting the Buddhist monastery in the area.

A short drive away, Granada—the former capital of the last Muslim kingdom in Spain (13th-15th century)—is rich in history and architectural wonders. Wander through the Albaicín, the ancient Moorish quarter, explore the Sacromonte caves, or visit the magnificent Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most breathtaking monuments in the world.

On your way, you might want to stop in Lanjarón, a town famous for its crystal-clear spring water and thermal baths, perfect for a moment of relaxation.

The Alpujarras offers a unique mix of history, nature, and cultural diversity, making it a special place to explore and experience at your own pace.
